Ben Versus Jo
Ben Versus Jo

This begins on Monday 9th January. Each and every Monday morning the guys will draw a challenge out of the hat. They will then have 1 week to get ready to take on the challenge the following Friday.
Challenge 13 Monday April 23rd 2012
This week it's all about baking. Having found out that Jo is now best of friends with Jamie Oliver, it was no coincidence to see why the challenge this week was food related. On Thursday both Ben and Jo will bring in a cake they have baked and the good people of Palm will taste each cake to choose their favourite. It will be then down to you on Friday to vote on which cake YOU think looks the best. We will also be tweeting Jamie Oliver our pics as well to get his vote. Once we have tallied all the votes a winner will be declared on Friday morning - taking a 7-6 lead. Good luck and happy baking!
Challenge 13 Result Friday April 27th 2012
It was unlucky for Ben on Challenge 13. Despite Jo saying she had burnt her cake, she thrashed Ben in the baking department on both the looks and taste front. The team at Palm preferred her cake, the listeners preferred her cake and a load of celebrity chefs including the Fabulous Baker Brothers and Mitch Tonks.

Challenge 12 Monday April 16th 2012
After a 2 week break it was time to recommence the rivalry on Ben versus Jo and challenge 12 was set just after 8am. As the Brixham Pirate festival is fast approaching, the powers that be decided it might be fun to involve the guys with the Brixham Buccaneers for their next challenge. So Friday morning from 8am it wil be Ben v Jo in 'Who's the best pirate' competition!
The judges will be Cap'n Blood n Guts and Steely Eyed Jack from the Buccaneers - find out who wins point 12 on Friday morning. All together now y'aaaaaaar!
Challenge 12 Result Friday April 20th 2012
A big thank you must go to the Brixham Buccaneers who came in to set and judge challenge number 12 - to find out who the best pirate was. The challenge itself involved the best 'aaaaarrrrr', pirate knowledge and the best pirate joke. Ben managed to get the vote of both Captain Blood n Guts and Steely Eyes Jack to bag point number 12 and tie the Ben v Jo challenge at 6-6. Listen to the challenge below
Challenge 11 Monday March 26th 2012
So with the scores tied at 5-5 the guys limbered up for challenge number 11. Seeing as Ben and Jo were to be out all week broadcasting live from a bed, it was quite apt that their challenge was to be a pillow fight. Both of them were pretty confident that they could land the 11th point to take them into the Easter break 1point up, but who would come out on top?
Challenge 11 Result Friday March 30th 2012
The final challenge before the Easter break took place on a bed outside Sainsburys in Torquay and was watched by a hug crowd of about...7. Ben v Jo 'The Pillow Fight' - lasted 30 seconds and it was down to our judge Mark, to decide who would win point number 11. If you watch the video here of the fight, you will understand why the point went to Jo who takes a 6-5 into the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Challenge 10 Monday March 19th 2012
This week it's all about paper planes! On Friday Ben and Jo will each build a paper plane. They will then head outside Palm towers and each have 3 throws with their plane. Whoever has the furthest combined distance with their plane over the 3 throws, will be declared the winner and win point number 10!

Challenge 10 Result Friday 23rd March
Ben managed to level things up at 5-5 after buidling a much better plane than Jo's in the 10th challenge. If you want to see the action for yourself then click here
Challenge 9 Monday March 12th 2012
With the scores now level once again at 4-4 the guys found out on Monday that their challenge would be a darts based one.

The idea of the challenge is that both would have 6 darts each blindfolded - whilst throwing for the other player. Sounds complicated doesnt it! So on Friday Jo will be blindfolded and have 6 darts at the dartboard. Ben will direct her where to throw the darts and however many points she scores - that will be his score..and vice versa. Get it? I know it doesnt make much sense but all will be revealed on Friday!
Challenge 9 Result Friday March 16th 2012
Well thanks to Ben forgetting to bring in the dartboard, this challenge eventually took place on Monday morning. Due to a clause in the rules, Jo could have opted to take the point by default but chose to play the challenge anyway - which was a good idea as she ended up winning quite convincingly...not for her darts prowess, but more for the lack of of it which hindered Ben! Jo now leads 5-4
Challenge 8 Monday March 5th 2012
Do you remember Wacaday with Timmy Mallett? Well if you do, you will know what challenge 8 is going to be all about. On Friday morning Ben and Jo will go head to head in a word association game - once again with Hogie as the host. Best of five wins point number 8 - good luck both!
Challenge 8 Result Friday March 9th 2012
If you were listening on Friday you would have heard a travesty of justice in that Ben should not have lost (can you tell who is typing this up!) In the best of five challenge Ben lost by 3 points to 2 even though the last round should have been replayed. Hogie was in charge of matters though and as far as he was concerned, the result stood which brought the scores level at Ben 4 Jo 4
Challenge 7 Monday February 27th 2012
So this weeks challenge is a test of memory. If you remember The Generation Game and the famous conveyor belt, then you will get an idea of this weeks challenge. On Friday Ben and Jo will each get 20 items but in front of them and then will have 1 minute to remember as many of the items as they can - the one who gets the most right will win point number 7 and go 4-3 up. Good luck guys!
Challenge 7 Result Friday March 2nd 2012
After what was a titanic struggle, it was Ben that emerged victorious after the memory challenge. Hogie presided over proceedings and both Ben and Jo were given just 1 minute to remember 16 random objects laid out in Studio 2. They then had 30 seconds to recall what they were. Jo managed a brilliant 12 but was pipped at the post by Ben who managed 13! 4-3 to Mr Moseby then...game on!
Challenge 6 Monday February 20th 2012
After a week off both Ben and Jo felt ready and raring to go for Challenge 6. Ben knows a win will pull him two clear and if Jo triumphs she can level things up at 3-3. The guys will be predicting the Brit Awards results on this weeks challenge. So by Wednesday morning we will know our winner. 10 catergories, Ben and Jo pick 1 winner in each catergory - whoever predicts the most correctly, will be awarded point number 6. Simples!
Challenge 6 Result Wednesday February 22nd 2012
You would have thought with Ben being a radio presenter he might have won this easily with his substantial music knowledge. Well you would be wrong to think that because Jo wiped the floor with him! Ben managed to get 4/10 correct but Jo won with a whopping 7/10! Congratulations to Jo who has now tied the scores at 3-3
Challenge 5 Monday February 6th 2012
So with Jo trailing Ben 3-1 she was hoping that this weeks challenge would be something she would excel in. Well we will find out on Friday as the guys will be going head to head in a game of Operation. Whoever wins will be awarded point number 5
Challenge 5 Result - Friday February 10th 2012
Jo managed to pull back a point on this weeks challenge as she beat Ben 7-6 on a traditional game of Operation. Check out the pics below. The score now overall is Ben 3 Jo 2

Challenge 4 Monday January 30th 2012
So with Ben leading Jo 2-1 after 3 rounds it was time to find out what the next challenge would be...and the guys are set to get all arty. Yes challenge number 4 is all about creating a piece of art. Both Ben and Jo have until 8am on Thursday morning to come up with something (using only things they find around the office). They will then put their creations on ebay and whoever makes the most money in 24 hours will be crowned the winner.
Good luck guys!
Challenge 4 Result- Friday February 3rd 2012
Even though Ben claims Jo copied him, both the guys went for pieces of artwork that involved using the office photocopier. Jo came up with this piece of artwork

And here is Ben's effort

Amazingly in the one hour they were on e bay Jo's fetched over £11 and Ben's fetched in £15.53 making him the winner! Thank you to everyone who bid. BEN 3 JO 1
Challenge 3 Monday 23rd January 2012
So with the scores at 1-1 after 2 weeks both Ben and Jo were keen to get something this week that they could excel in...they got poetry! Yes this weeks challenge is all about rhyming. The guys have to come up with a poem ready for Friday's show and you will vote for your favourite. The topics were predetermined...Ben will be writing a poem about birds of prey and Jo about pizza...good luck guys!
Challenge 3 Result - Friday January 27th 2012
So the guys came up with their poems and a pretty good job they did too...sort of.
Both poems got plenty of votes from listeners and in the end it was a pretty close run thing. Ben just managed to pip Jo with his effort on birds of prey. Ben got 56% of the vote. BEN 2 JO 1
Should you want to hear the poems - here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1R2ETPipnc

Challenge 2 - Monday 16th January 2012
With Jo having won the first challenge (doughnut eating - see below) Ben was hoping for something that might play to his strengths a bit more as the second challenge on Ben v Jo was revealed.
He wasn't disappointed as the challenge this week is Balloon Modelling. It turns out that both Ben and Jo have dabbled in the art of balloon modelling before, so it should be an interesting contest on Friday. Through this week Ben and Jo will have balloons to practice with and then just after 8am on Friday they will have 10 minutes to make their creation. You will vote for your favourite.
Tune in Friday morning to find out who wins point 2. Plus see below for details and pictures of the last challenge.
Challenge 2 Result - Friday 20th January 2012
Ben managed to draw level on Friday morning when the good people of south Devon voted for his 'dog hat' over Jo's 'dog with a necklace. See the photos below and tune in Monday for the next challenge. Ben 1 Jo 1

Challenge 1 - Monday 9th January 2012
At 805am on Monday morning Ben and Jo found out that their first challenge would be to eat a doughnut and the winner of the challenge would be the person who can go the longest without licking their lips!
They've now got all week to train (!) ready for the challenge which will take place on Friday morning just after 8am. Who will take an early lead in this battle of the sexes?
Challenge 1 Result - Friday 13th January 2012
So the challenge took place on Friday morning with possibly the most disgusting doughnuts ever - they were definitely out of date. Despite that fact, Jo managed to somehow get the first point on the board after Ben licked his lips about 5 minutes in.
