John Hogarth (Hogie) has just released a copy of his debut thriller novel ‘The Frequency of Murder' and here at Palm 105.5 we couldn't be more proud.

Set in South Devon the story follows D.C.I Richard Cowell as he tries to keep a grip on his life while a serial killer is on the loose.

"I was always quite nervous about releasing a book because it's all my own work. It's not like being in a radio studio with a thousand artists that you can just hide behind. I always wanted to write a story based around this area simply because we live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world and I think that sometimes South Devon isn't recognised enough."

"I think that the readers will identify with the main characters as they are honest and flawed just as we are. And who knows, if it's well received, I may even write another."

The pace is quite fast as our hero tries to put a stop to a brutal killer who has the whole area in a state of fear.

Hogie's debut is available on Kindle devices and Kindle apps for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, PC, Mac, Blackberry, and Android-based devices.

Take a look at some of the reviews Hogie's received already.

THE FREQUENCY OF MURDER is a refreshingly different murder mystery set in the little-known world of a local radio station. What's more, it's set in South Devon - my favourite holiday area. So what's not to like? The hero is flawed and not flawless, and is totally believable. And the action carries the reader forward at a rate of knots. I found it very hard to put down. I haven't heard of this writer before. Is it a first novel? If it is, it's a winning debut. Roll on his second!
